Since I went to Austin during the first week of March Madness, I couldn’t really run a tourney pool like I usually do, so the only one I entered was the one at work. I ended up tied for 4th, which ain’t bad, but the guy who ran the pool won it. He also won the pool on Boston.com.
His prize is what you see to the right. Any competition that has a prize of meat and a trophy is a heck of a competition. Next year, I might offer up a prize of steak and trophy in lieu of money for winning the pool that I run. Sometime between now and then, let’s hope Kentucky signs Billy Donovan.
What a tournament. Easily the most ridiculous, upset-filled tourney in history, this year ravaged brackets indiscriminately, finishing off the pool by the start of the Final Four. As you can see, no one has any more picks to earn points from, so Deb wins, Melissa gets 2nd, and we all wonder what the heck just happened. Thanks to everyone for playing the pool, it made for some great game-watching.
Well, those were some interesting opening rounds. Who else saw Brad Pitt today? Click the pic for a bigger version:

Pats’ Weis named Notre Dame head coach
He better forget everything he ever heard about Notre Dame until the Pats win the Super Bowl 39 in January. If they don’t, I’m holding him AND his botched stomach-stapling surgery responsible for everything.
Eli Manning’s line yesterday @ Baltimore:

Kentucky to beat everyone in March
You heard it here second. According to just about everyone at ESPN, who from here on out are never wrong, the ‘Cats are a lock for the Final Four.
The freshmen just keep getting exponentially better, making UK the youngest and scariest team in college hoops.
Except for St. Jerome’s College in Oregon, which fields a team of knife-wielding Albanian midgets.
If it hasn’t happened already, I think Jimmy Kimmel needs to do his Karl Malone bit and re-enact this whole thing. Because Karl Malone wearing a cowboy hat and saying he’s “hunting little Mexican girls” is comedy gold.
It appears to be over, pending a final recount, but looks like the moneywinners have been set. if you’ve already stopped caring, thanks for playing, it was fun.
