Simply an excellent, blinding, awestriking show. As majestic a spectacle as any in rock, especially of the alternative persuasion. Muse nearly tore the canvas of the BoA pavilion with a setlist that included about 7 or 8 songs from Blackholes & Revelations interspersed with older faves.
Despite a harbor breeze, it was pretty stuffy under the tent, but that certainly didn’t stop me or anyone else from rocking out and showin’ love to the boys. The extravaganza started off on furious note and didn’t let up - except for the good ol’ technical difficulties before “Hysteria”. The lights and effects were excellent, showing close-ups on a huge staggered backdrop, while the lights frequently shone on the crowd and flashed with the music.
“Sunburn” was probably my favorite tune, but that’s a tough call. It was truly a production befitting the grandeur of the new album. When they finished with “Knights of Cydonia”, they blasted the words onto the backdrop, making it feel like some huge call-to-arms.
Done and well done.
