Top 5 Currently Stolen Paintings

1. “Madonna with the Yarnwinder” - Da Vinci
Value: $50 million

Buttahz Da Vinci ganked from a castle. Isn’t anything safe anymore?

2. “Nativity” - Caravaggio
Value: $20 million

I’m a sucka for Cavavaggio. Does that make me a bad person? I know his paintings are busy, but I’m from the ADD generation, yo.

3. “Portrait of a Father” - Van Gogh
Value: $4.5 million

A cool Father’s Day gift for the thief’s dad.
Better than a World’s #1 Dad mesh hat.
Or is it?

4. “Storm on the Sea of Galilee” - Rembrandt
Value: $49.99

Ganked from the Isabella Gardner Stewart Museum here in Boston. Impressive.
Makes you want to go sailing

5. “Nature morte à la charlotte” - Picasso
Value: $10 million?

I wish I stole it. I didn’t, though, I promise.

Update!
No longer stolen!
“The Scream” - Edvard Munch
Value: $100 billion?

One of the most famous paintings ever. Glad to have ya back, baby.

Reportedly destroyed? Where? And by whom? Actually, the image of the painting is priceless, but the painting itself is of little market value. It cannot be publicly sold or traded and anyone holding it can’t boast of “owning” it. And knowing it is stolen, would give the possessor, it seems to me, little comfort. The most logical conclusion is it will be held for ransom, or will surface in a hundred years or so, with the provenance untraceable-only then to return to Oslo. But the thieves stole only the work, not its essence.

in the Wikipedia article, it references a Norway Post article questioning if they had been destroyed.

Three of the six suspects were sentenced to jail for 4, 7, and 8 years.

It’s still unknown where it is, I guess they ain’t talkin. But you’re right, the image isn’t going anywhere. It’s become an icon.
