Since the Publick House was packed, we crossed the street to the Washington Square Tavern, where at least we were seated immediately. The place is basically a bar attached to some semi-dieval room slapped by modern art.
Despite the awkward vibe, the menu looked impressive, wine list is huge, and the head guy seemed to genuinely care. Since their beer is pretty limited, I got a martini, which unfortunately came in some goofy glass. Our waitress was cool but rarely around; the service was pretty much average. The burger was actually really good, and the pasta I got was actually al dente. The Tavern isn’t the sexiest place in the world, but it’s still satisfying and cozy. It reminds me of when Jimmy Soul said:
“If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you”

best yet, they use wine glasses from our website
