All kinds of streaks involved on Sunday. When Nadal beat Federer in four sets in the French final, it ended and extended a bunch of runs. Since it’s just clay, it didn’t really feel like a changing of the guard in anyway, especially given how much Federer sucked. It’s a good story, and certainly makes for future excitement, assuming Nadal can accomplish anything on grass or hard surfaces.
Here are the streaks:
-Extended Nadal’s clay win streak to 60
-Ended Federer’s bid for 4 straight slams
-Federer’s 1st loss in 8 slam finals
-Federer’s 4th loss to Nadal in 2006 finals
-Nadal’s 2nd consecutive French Open title

Due to France’s noted hatred of all things Spanish, Nadal was advised by his lawyers to bite into the trophy to make sure it was real. It turned out last year’s trophy was really just some Waitrose Lager (the natty light of French beer) cans turned inside out and stapled to a wooden bowl. They also paid him in the now worthless Franc instead of Euros.
