World Cup 2006 set to kick off
Well, Völker, it’s finally here. The sweet, sweet World Cup is a few hours away, and I, for one, am so excited that I will probably call in sick every single day for the next month to watch the games, regardless of if there’s even a game that day or not. It’s been a long four years.
I’ve extensively analyzed the field, and while several countries are tempting picks to win it all, I’ve decided on a slight darkhorse. That’s right. Host nation Germany is going to take the trophy, er, home. Their keepers are unbelievable, and just like France in ‘98, have an amazing home field advantage.
My official World Cup ‘06 champions pick: Deutschland

| Time to get this World Cup party started! It’s opening day here in Germany, and I’ve been awake for the last 72 hours! There are needles sticking out of my arm, and I sold Kitt for a tiny bag of coke! Ach! So stupid! |

Could Germany get an easier group and path in the playoffs?
Their schedule makes Chu’s daily routine seem challenging.

and Ballack didn’t even play.
But then again, Costa Rica didn’t even have an official football team until 4pm on Wednesday.

I think this is the first time that Costa Rica didn’t use a mummified human head as a ball.
