of MontrealAfter listening to about 3,000 of of Montreal’s songs and missing them live thrice, I finally saw these guys last night. They met my anticipation with a show as fun as anything I’ve been to in a while. Kevin Barnes was funny between songs, the band was feelin’ it (esp. Dottie smiling the whole time), and the crowd was lovin’ it.

Barnes, in wedding gown, pronounced the marriage between the crowd the band, and things got started. From there, the all ages crowd bounced around and the band fed off of it nicely. One time, Barnes explained the symbology of Dottie’s wardrobe, complete with a story of how she’ll make love to a gal on an Arizona farm a few decades from now, which was all pretty hilarious.

The whole show was great. Lots of energy, solid setlist, endearing banter, even costume changes. I’d see ‘em again tonight if I could.
