Stats of the week #32

8 million chickens will die this year in order to feed consumption.
There are 250 million egg-laying hens in the U.S.; last year, they laid 80 billion eggs.
This year, each American will eat 250 eggs.
-PBS’ “Natural History of the Chicken”
Chicken farms are disgusting. Cages so small they can’t spread their wings. Tip of the iceberg.
Now they’re showing a woman with a pet chicken in Miami. So odd. But it’s Miami, so no one cares. Giving it a bath! Taking it shopping in her purse now. Disgusting. Chickens are the Seahawks of the poultry industry: pathetic losers.
Also, just watched some crazy crap about megalightning. It shoots up out of the earth’s atmosphere like a spout and kills everything, including that one recent space shuttle we had.
