They couldn’t even mug the Braves out of a division championship.
]]>Then be prepared when he starts whining about some sports writer “who disrespected him” in early May. Pedro will then go 1-3 and the bitching will grow louder. But suddenly, he stops talking to the media and rips off four wins in a row. Just when Mets fans think he’s mature and is ready to be a team player, he ditches the team four days before the All Star game to attend a birthday party in the DR.
Pedro returns in early July and will pitch fairly decent but Braden Looper will blow a few save opps in a row (Pedro will have something like four quality starts in a row but goes 0-0). Pedro then spouts off to the same reporter who disrespected him that “I can only pitch so many innings, it’s up to the rest of the staff to do their jobs” - and that’s verbatim. Following Mike Piazza’s date with Derek Jeter one day later, he calls out Pedro in a post game intvw in which the Mets get wrecked 12-3.
Meanwhile, since the All Star break, they’ve only gone 2-11. Shit is hitting the fan and Pedro decides to go on the DL for the month of August which quickly turns into September for the Mets to find themselves 15 games back of the Braves and 20 games back of the Phils.
Good luck Pedro. Better yet, good luck Mets fans.
