Menomena makes me wonder what kind of bad karma they have. Not only have they been ignored for a major release of their wicked phat dope album, I Am The Fun Blame Monster, until now, but their tours have been non-existent and that pisses me off.
So they finally show up in Boston in a terrible middle support slot on an even crappier tour, so we shelled out the $9 and just showed up between the opening and headlining bands. So glad we did.
They played about 6 songs in a hurried, shortened set, which was presumably due to doing too much blow in the green room. All the songs were off their album, and all sounded pretty impressive, save everyone’s inability to sing. Either they’d all been chain-smoking for 48 hours or they use the *Nsync voice-enhancing technology in the studio and couldn’t bring it on the road.
They did , however, bring pretty solid mix of electrosorbing sound effects, jagged guitar, and thunderchunky drums, and pulled off a half-assed 3-man show better than any I’ve seen in a while.
Despite leaving me with a significant amount of breath, there are plenty of aspects of their show that were perfect, and others that can easily be fixed. The next time they’re around, though, they owe us a drink.

Isn’t thunderchunky the companion cereal to extra strength colon blow?
