Protesters say prairie dog poisoning would hurt ferrets
The problem with poisoning the prairie dogs is that when South Dakotans prepare their meals out of prairie dogs, a lot of the excess organs get discarded in the trash, and the ferrets eat them out of dumpsters.
While most South Dakotans are immune to prairie dog poison, the state’s ferrets are not, and are threatened to become extinct very quickly. Ferret awareness programs are springing up in cities across the nation, so join one and get involved in a cause that may just end up saving the world.
