With a total bodycount of 1,003, this war is well in line with the Defense Department’s Fall 2004 forecast.

Secretary Donald Rumsfeld quipped, “We expected to have about a grand by Labor Day, and we pretty much hit it right on. We’re forecasting a far bloodier year ahead though, with our estimate around 10,000 more casualties by next Labor Day. Solid.”

The problem with the Serbian Radical Party isn’t its tendency to burn buildings or murder innocent people. It’s not that the leader is awaiting trial at the Yugoslav War Crimes Tribunal. It’s not even their ill-advised ad campaign featuring Bobcat Goldthwait.

It’s that the members can’t even get along among their own families. If your son is your #1 opponent in a campaign, and he’s not even running against you, you probably won’t convince many folks. The only way this guy can salvage the campaign is to get a broomstick and a midget and go door to door singing pleasant songs and offering cheeses.
