smarty jones, the world’s most famous horse at the moment, put on a show yesterday that was so brilliant, it had to be fake.

before the race began, i told my friend that smarty jones would win just because of the triple crown hype. visa, vegas, and possibly you have money to make if smartzilla wins all three, so the strings to make it happen were pulled accordingly.

but actually, halfway through the race, i noticed smarty jonestown massacre start his move, and his stride from that point on was jaw-dropping. it was the smoothest i’ve seen a horse since carly simon recorded “nobody does it better”. and he kept getting better till the end, unlike carly simon. how did this turn into a carly simon dissfest?

anyway, he shattered the length of victory record as well as various gambling feats. so look for more betting records to be smashed, but probably no triple crown winner. but maybe. it’s like on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? - who’s going to be the first winner and burst the bubble a little?
