“Don’t Come To Hawaii, EVER!” permalink

so i was standing on the front porch this afternoon and got some excitement.

at the linden/brighton intersection, BU graduation buses were trying to turn onto linden, which is a tough move even with no traffic. so the first bus couldnt make the turn cause some guy in a BMW wouldn’t back up to let the bus swing through, so everything stalled.

so after a while, the bus driver got out and asked the BMW dude, who had plenty of room to back up, to do so. at which point the BMW refused. so a few more bus occupants got out to plead to him, but he steadfastly denied their requests, for little to no reason.

so a family got out of the bus to get into a cab that was sitting there, and as they walked by the BMW angrily, the BMW driver got out, starting cursing at the graduation family as loudly as possible, and eventually telling them, “i spit on your grave.”

while several people stopped and watched, the bus driver offered one more plea, and started to move the bus anyway. the BMW guy, left with few options, backed up a little, and got out of his car once more to scream the most heinous threat of them all to the bus driver, “don’t come to hawaii, EVER!” keep in mind, we’re in allston, mass.

anyway, eventually everyone went on their way, but the warning had been issued. if the bus driver ever finds himself on the islands of hawaii, simply put, he’s a dead man. this was easily the most vicious of the hawaii-related death threats i heard all week, and i worry for the bus driver’s family. awesome.

smarty jones, the world’s most famous horse at the moment, put on a show yesterday that was so brilliant, it had to be fake.

before the race began, i told my friend that smarty jones would win just because of the triple crown hype. visa, vegas, and possibly you have money to make if smartzilla wins all three, so the strings to make it happen were pulled accordingly.

smarty jones

but actually, halfway through the race, i noticed smarty jonestown massacre start his move, and his stride from that point on was jaw-dropping. it was the smoothest i’ve seen a horse since carly simon recorded “nobody does it better”. and he kept getting better till the end, unlike carly simon. how did this turn into a carly simon dissfest?

anyway, he shattered the length of victory record as well as various gambling feats. so look for more betting records to be smashed, but probably no triple crown winner. but maybe. it’s like on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? - who’s going to be the first winner and burst the bubble a little? Maybe it’ll happen this year and Visa’s hype will get old and horse racing slumps for a couple of years. nah, rich people aren’t THAT dumb…
